Opera Rave Masquerade: Celebrate the Ides of March with us at the Historic Stonewall Inn for a fun evening of costume, dancing, drinking, and music. A live band will accompany opera performances by OperaRox artists between sets of dance music. Come in your best masquerade attire. All proceeds will go towards our 2017-2018 Season, including the summer workshop of Ghost Variations.

Ghost Variations, Premiere Workshop: Clara Schumann’s life falls out from beneath her when her genius composer husband, Robert Schumann, experiences a mental health crisis. As Robert battles the hallucinations and dementia brought on by his illness, Clara must find a way to remain strong for her family, her friends, and herself. Ghost Variations re-imagines the real story of the Schumanns and their closest friend, Johannes Brahms, in the final years of Robert’s life.

Ghost Variations was commissioned by OperaRox Productions and marks Tony Manfredonia’s first full-length opera.  It will receive its full production World Premiere in August 2019.

Aug 19,2018 at The National Opera Center

Last Season:

Handel's Alcina: In this gritty, modern-day production, Handel's opera illuminates both the pitfalls of addiction and the possibility of redemption from our most powerful vices.

New Works Concert: Features the World Premiere of selections from Cecil Price Walden and Lane Williamson's The Contract Player and other newly-commissioned works by emerging opera composers.

Griffin Candey's Sweets by Kate: When Elizabeth’s father dies suddenly, she must return to the small-town that shunned her 12 years before. Amidst the outwardly-cheery glow of the 1950’s, Elizabeth and her partner, Kate, must square with the lurking disapproval of the town, the teetering success of Elizabeth’s family business, and the Devil – literally.

NYC Premiere of this lauded supernatural lesbian rom-com July 2-12 at the historic Stonewall Inn.
